The 2024–2025 biennium under the leadership of SIE President Hafdís was a period of renewal, strong collaboration, and increased impact.
Guided by the Strategic Plan, the Board worked collectively to advance Soroptimist’s mission of transforming the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment, and opportunity, strengthening governance through updated processes and procedures. Member engagement and capacity were enhanced through in-person and online trainings, while advocacy efforts were amplified through active participation in UN CSW sessions, International Women’s Day, and Read the Signs campaigns, reinforcing Soroptimist as a Global Voice for Women. Key highlights included the highly successful SIE Congress in Krakow in October 2025 and the selection of Prague as the host city for the 2027 SI Convention, setting a strong foundation for the future.

RomanIA and the Art of Heritage: Romanian Soroptimists Revive the
Tradition of the IA
————————————————————
The Soroptimists of Romania have launched a vibrant initiative
celebrating the IA, Romania’s traditional blouse and a UNESCO-recognised
symbol of cultural heritage. Engaging nearly 200 students across four
regions, the project combined hands-on workshops, creative learning, and
intergenerational mentorship to deepen appreciation for this cherished
tradition. From sewing motifs on bookmarks to crafting full IAs, young
participants explored the artistry and history of folk costume while
strengthening community ties. This inspiring project shows how cultural
preservation and education can empower the next generation.

SIE om Internationella Kvinnodagen 2026
9 december, 2025

26 november, 2025
